Great Blue Heron by John McCoy

June, 2026–Congratulations to Mt. Shasta High School senior, Charlotte Aston, for creating a really meaningful senior project! She wanted to do something to help pollinators such as bees, butterflies and hummingbirds and decided to build her own pollinator garden. She reached out to Audubon for help, and we spent several days together researching the best native pollinator plants to buy for our area, what size box she would build with her dad, and then went shopping to a local native plant sale to buy plants with funds from our Audubon Chapter.
To keep the project portable, the plants were kept in pots until after presentation night. Thank you so much to Charlotte for caring about our pollinator species and sharing the importance of planting native plants for wildlife. We can’t wait to see her garden in full bloom later this summer!
