Thursday, April 16, 2026, 6:00 to 7:00PM:  DARK SKY PRESENTATION!  At Mt. Shasta Sisson Museum.
Barbara Paulson, the “Mt Shasta Star Lady”, is hosting a stargazers lecture at the Sisson Museum on Thursday, April 16th. The lecture will cover topics that are hard to explain in the field, such as projecting how the stars move across the skies in the course of a night or a year, how vast our universe is, what some of the objects in our sky look like through telescopes, and what cool astronomy happenings are coming up! This lecture will set the stage for the next outdoor Dark Sky Tour. which is being planned for May 5th.
This lecture is presented in collaboration with the Sisson Museum, Siskiyou Land Trust and the Mt. Shasta Area Audubon Society.
Dark Sky Week is a worldwide event that draws attention to light pollution, promotes simple solutions to mitigate the issue, and celebrates the irreplaceable beauty of a natural night.  The National Audubon Society has been a long-term partner with Dark Sky International in raising the awareness of light pollution’s effect on bird populations, especially during spring and fall migration. The Mt. Shasta Area Audubon Society is extremely proud to be a local sponsor of this opportunity to learn more about our deep, dark Siskiyou County skies.
